The XX announce their new album, Coexist
The XX have announced the first details of their second album – it’s called Coexist and will be released on Young Turks on 10th September in the UK and a day later in the US. It’s the follow-up to their Mercury Prize-winning self-titled debut album.
The band has this to say on their Facebook page: “We’re so excited to share with you the news that our second record ‘Coexist’ will be released on September 10th. After a long time on the road, we took a break, created our own studio and wrote these new songs that we’re so looking forward to playing to you. We will be touring throughout the summer and beyond, and hope to play somewhere near you soon. xx The xx”.
The album was produced by Jamie XX and recorded between November 2011 and May 2012. That’s all the details we have so far – the band are debuting new material at a load of festivals in Europe and across the Atlantic this summer and early reports suggest that the band are bringing their dance/electronica influences a little more explicitly to the forefront of their music, but time will tell. Have a listen to ‘Open Eyes’, a demo the band made available at the end of 2011 – we don’t know whether a final version has made the album or not just yet.

That’s great to hear! Supposedly everyone except the US gets the album on September 10th, and the US gets it a day later for some reason.
I still can’t wait to hear this!
