The View – 5Rebbecca’s

October 26, 2008 Reviews, Single No Comments

Complete with (hopefully) deliberate misspellings, Dundee’s The View are BACK; and mistake us if we’re wrong but the verses represent a huge, huge leap in class. It’s got a massive chunk of swagger a la early Ash, and it runs aptly in and out of full-bodied guitar-fuzz and rollicking-drum forebodings – and as a lead-off single for the second album, it’s a fair enough stab at the four-minute anthem.

It’s lyrically as flimsy as your not-so-old-favourite “same jeans on for four days now”, but with far more gusto. And it ends unresolved, giving another justification for taking ‘5Rebbecca’s’ into your heart. It sure ain’t rocket science, but it’ll have you throwing your arms in the air come festival season next year.
