The Oscars’ documentary short list
Big Screen Little Screen has rounded up trailers for all fifteen documentaries shortlisted for the Oscars. The list must be cut down to five for the Oscar nominations.
My personal favourite is Man on Wire, the story of Philippe Petit‘s 1974 high-wire walk between the Twin Towers of New York’s World Trade Center. Also on the list is Errol Morris’s Standard Operating Procedure and Werner Herzog’s Antarctica film Encounters at the End of the World.
The 81st Oscar nominations in all categories are scheduled to be announced on January 22nd 2009.
