The Hush Now

The Hush Now

With the first single from the forthcoming album, Constellations, The Hush Now return with a stellar slice of indie pop. Whilst the band has seen numerous changes since their debut, with Noel Kelly at the helm the music doesn’t veer too far off course.

Sounding like The Cure played by The Stone Roses, ‘Hoping and Waiting’ eases gently into life, getting over the dirge like opening to bounce along on a wave of optimism and cheerfulness. The chorus seems to borrow from Teenage Fanclub, which is no bad thing and you kept help but smile and feel uplifted.  Noel Kelly’s vocals become even more excitable and joyous as the song develops.

Everything seems to follow suit until two thirds of the way through an operatic gentleman stops proceedings to break out into his own little ditty and show appreciation sending the song into disarray and leaving you feeling perplexed. The trumpets break out for the final third helping the song reach a blissful climax.
Instantaneously infectious, all the signs are good for the forthcoming album. This is how pop music should be. Quite literally pop perfection!
