Reviewface #1… with teenagersintokyo

teenagersintokyo

In the first of a new hopefully-more-than-sporadic feature, we got one of our favourite new bands to review the week’s singles on camera in a pub. Sydney-birthed teenagersintokyo were our guinea pigs in deepest darkest Shoreditch, and with the help of our fair photo-hand Tim Boddy, they were only too pleased to stick our iPod in their ears and react Live On Camera.

We’ve got some very interesting guests lined up over the next few weeks for Reviewface, so keep your eyes and ears peeled.

They’re currently recording their debut album with Bat for Lashes producer David Kosten, and if the samples on the MySpace are anything to go by, it’ll be a synthy punchy treat.

We gave them Alphabeat’s ‘The Spell’ followed by The Twilight Sad’s ‘Seven Years Of Letters’, and here’s what happened…

Next up was the inimitable Cheryl Cole’s ‘Fight For This Love’. Hell, it saved us the job…

And it’d have been rude not give them the chance to introduce themselves, so here’s some of that.

We hope you enjoyed that. It’s new and exciting, just a little bit voyeuristic and should bring some fun and exciting sneak-peeks into the minds of some interesting bands over the next foreseeable…

Oh and she also looks after the all-new Muso's Guide presents... shows, coming to a town near you soon. She was on Sky News once, you know.

“I want to be on you”.  Ron Burgundy’s “immortal words” are those chosen by Mike Doughty to sell himself to the British public.
Doughty, formerly of alt-rock band Soul Coughing, is pretty popular in the States, but relatively unknown here.  My question referred to selling himself to us in the style of a dating [...]

Win tickets to see Casiokids in London

Casiokids.jpg

Norway's electro pop quintet CASIOKIDS play Camden’s Barfly on February 25, and we're giving away a pair of tickets.

After the release of a few stellar singles in 2009, 2010 is looking exciting for this lot. Their bouncy percussive basement music, eerie melody and distorted bass are the product of inspiration from such diverse sources as Paul Simon's 'Graceland', Ivor Cutler, King Tubby, Bob Hund, Cornelius And Fela Kuti.

To win tickets, just answer the following question:

Which label are CASIOKIDS signed to?
