Radiohead

Radiohead look set to make an appearance on a David Bowie tribute album that is being produced by Warchild. The album, originally scheduled to be released this year, is now due in February 2010.

Radiohead’s rumoured involvement with this record will come as no surprise to fans – the band have contributed two tracks to Warchild compilations in the past. OK Computer standout ‘Lucky’ was included on The Help Album in 1995, and ‘I Want None of This’ emerged on Help! A Day In The Life ten years later. The news came via former Japan bassist Mick Karn’s website, who is contributing a cover of ‘Ashes to Ashes’ to the disc. Other participants include Carla Bruni and Charlotte Gainsbourg.

All this begs the question: what David Bowie song are Radiohead going to cover? ‘Heroes’ would be an obvious choice, surely, but it would be interesting to hear them try their hand at something like ‘Sound and Vision’. Or they could just play completely against type and give ‘Oh! You Pretty Things’ or ‘Suffragette City’ a go. Unlikely perhaps…

  • Alas, a report on pitchfork, the god of music news to our mere minion of rumour, has put an end to this story - Radiohead will not be contributing to a Bowie tribute record.

So: Q. Radiohead to feature on David Bowie tribute album? A. No.
