Knifeworld – Pissed Up on Brake Fluid

Current Cardiacs guitarist and all round musical journeyman Kavus Torabi drops down and gives us nothing. Before I lay the smacketh down on this sitting duck of musical ineptitude I shall at least be charitable to Mr Torabi, who in the past has released music that has been of some merit; notably when he was part of the outstanding The Monsoon Bassoon. Thinking back to those Bassoon salad days makes me weep, how has a man who was once involved in such a talented band ended up releasing ‘Pissed Up on Brake Fluid’?

Messy Feeder vocals cascade with lame guitar work, quality is left at the door like an empty milk bottle. A mooch of turbulent drumming staggers along like a tramp who has just consumed a bottle of liquid fabric softener. This is turgid run of the mill middle aged man rock, irritating like a nasty carpet burn. Embarrassing, like your Dad playing air guitar along to a System of a Down song.

The B-side to this single ‘Happy Half-Life, Dear Friend’ muddles along like a Pink Floyd song from Meddle; put succinctly, this is twaddle Prog porridge.
