As the Stone Roses have been active again for the last 12 months or so, garnering plenty of coverage what with touring, photo exhibitions and the like the time was clearly right for Mat Whitecross’ nostalgic snapshot of ’90s Manchester Spike Island to hit the silver screen over the Summer. The DVD and Blu-ray release of the movie is now upon us and we’ve a copy of either one or the other format plus additional related stuff such as a hat, a t-shirt and a USB to giveaway.
Spike Island follows five enterprising 16-year-old lads through 72 hours that shape their future, on the road to see The Stone Roses in their legendary Spike Island gig. It’s about the feeling of being 16, when music and your friends are your entire world, and a lifetime feels like forever. Nothing will stop them from getting to the gig, but their journey tests their friendships to the limits and their lives change forever.
