Brakes - Hey Hey

Originally I received a track named ‘Hey Hey’ that was pitched somewhere between Snow Patrol and JAMC and I was all set to say that “on this welcome return Brakes are once more upon us”. That, however, was not actually the track in question and it turns out that what is available in the shops is a different beast altogether.

The brothers White and cohorts have been away for a good many months and what they have unleashed to announce their return is quite a ferocious couple of minutes of, basically, punk rock.

Track Two, ‘Consumer, Producer, A Chicken Or’ is of a brevity that would impress Napalm Death and the third song, ‘Set A Course’, is a very pleasant and tuneful number that lesser bands would give up their grannies for to be able to call it theirs and put it out as and A-side. Forget they ever went away and get on with loving them.
