Bónus Skór – Bónus Skór ep

One of the good things about the hiatus Christmas affords the release schedules (and those of us that spout about their contents) is the chance it provides for the coverage of work that has until now slipped through the net somewhat. This is one of those very things.
An EP named after a shoe shop, you say? A charmingly pleasing video, you say? Well, that’s enough to shake Muso’s from the quiet slumber that comes with the festive season and its associated overindulgences. And as if that wasn’t enough, here’s a little story to get you going: Laura J. Martin went off on an adventure to demo some tracks in Iceland (how festive), and instead ended up making a lovely, 20 minute EP with Mike Lindsay from Tunng, which they named Bónus Skór after a shoe shop in Reykjavik.
We urge you to give the full EP a cheeky listen here , and if its aural delights aren’t quite enough for you, there’s a video for the track ‘Applecart’, which you can check out here. It’s lovely, wintry stuff, shot in muted colours almost drained into monochrome and overlaid with illustrations, while Tunng fans will find something pleasingly familiar in the track’s instrumentation and quirky percussion. Combined with Laura’s fragile vocal and sing-song melody underpinned by warm backing vocals, you might just find this song perfect for the post-Christmas comedown.
