A new Fall album is rarely an event. Imperial Wax Solvent is the group’s 27th full-length since 1979 and, as always, frontman and leading musical eccentric Mark E Smith is the band’s sole constant member. The question among serious Fall fans was whether the group was still relevant anymore, after 2007’s decidedly patchy Reformation: Post TLC.
