Au Revoir Simone

Single number one from the Still Night, Still Light album, this is a great upbeat but melancholic track that would not be unduly impacted by another minute in length just so you could wallow in the heart tugging beauty of it.

Live they could really go to town with it. Purely synth backed and with all three girls singing, I think, it starts slowly but insistently and then just keeps on building; makes you wish 12″ extended versions were as common as 20 years ago.

‘Grateful’, the b-side, is a slower, breathier and much more understated number that compliments the a-side perfectly. As nutshell-sized examples of bands’ talents and potential go this release is a fantastic one.
